Whop churn calculator
How much MRR does your whop lose every month, how much of it is failed payments nobody chose, and what does a same-day DM sequence get back? Three inputs, live answer.
Range at 20–40% recovery: $103–$206 of MRR per month, i.e. about $1,852 a year — and it compounds, because a recovered member keeps paying next month.
Retainer Recover costs $0/month + 20% of what it recovers, so you keep 80% of this. Retainer Pro (flat) costs $49/month; on these numbers it pays for itself with 1 recovered member; failed payment recovery is also included in the Free plan.

How to read the numbers
MRR lost every month is your churn in dollars: members lost × price. It is the number Whop does not show you, and it is why a whop can add 40 members a month and still feel flat.
Failed payments are the share of that loss that comes from expired cards and bank blocks — involuntary churn. These members still want in; they need a nudge and a one-click way to fix the card, inside the few days Whop keeps retrying. How the sequence works: how to recover failed payments on Whop.
Recoverable applies your recovery rate to the failed-payment MRR. 20–40% is what a personal DM within minutes plus two reminders typically gets; a message sent the next morning does markedly worse. The other two churn buckets — scheduled cancellations and silent members — respond to different messages: win-back DM templates and 7 retention tactics.

Questions
- What is a normal churn rate for a paid Whop community?
- Monthly churn of 8–15% is common for paid communities on Whop; sports betting and weekly plans sit higher (12–20%), tools and cohort courses lower (4–10%). See the benchmarks article for details by niche.
- How is monthly churn calculated?
- Members who stopped paying during the month divided by members who were paying on the first day of the month. New members who joined during the month are not part of the denominator.
- Why do failed payments matter so much?
- Usually 25–40% of churned members did not choose to leave: their card expired or the bank blocked the charge. A same-day personal DM with a link to update the card recovers 20–40% of that past-due MRR, with no discount.
- Does this calculator send my data anywhere?
- No. Everything is computed in your browser; nothing is stored or sent.
